The Hidden Jewels Project Inc. was birthed from the personal pain and powerful resilience of our founder, Kezra Yvette Marshall. A survivor of a once tumultuous and violent marriage, Kezra’s journey began long before her own relationship. As a young girl, she watched her mother endure similar cycles of domestic abuse, unknowingly inheriting the silence, shame, and patterns of trauma that often pass through generations. For years, she remained quiet-trapped by an internalized belief that “What goes on in this house, stays in this house.” But in 2011, Kezra broke that silence. Fueled by the desire to help others escape the darkness she once knew, she founded The Hidden Jewels Project—an advocacy initiative dedicated to uncovering the strength, value, and voice of those who feel forgotten.
In 2022, the organization expanded its reach and officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, The Hidden Jewels Project, Inc. stands as a beacon of hope and healing, offering services for women, children, and even male survivors—because abuse knows no gender, and healing should know no boundaries.
We are committed to breaking generational cycles of violence, restoring dignity, and empowering survivors to shine again—because every jewel deserves to be uncovered, polished, and set free to sparkle.
The Hidden Jewels Project proudly recognizes individuals and organizations that embody courage, compassion, and commitment in the fight against domestic violence through our annual HJP Advocacy Awards.
The Omni Advocacy Award
Named in memory of the Founder's Mother, this award Honors a trailblazer whose holistic impact in domestic violence prevention, education, and survivor care touches multiple sectors—legal, social, and spiritual. This award celebrates an advocate who sees the whole person and fights for systemic change.

The Purple Playground Award
This award honors an outstanding child advocate who champions the safety, healing, and emotional well-being of children affected by domestic violence. Whether through education, mentorship, therapy, or community programs, this individual creates safe spaces—“playgrounds”—where children can reclaim joy, rebuild trust, and find their voice. The Purple Playground Award recognizes those who turn advocacy into action for our youngest and most vulnerable survivors.
The Inaugural Alma L. Blaylock Award
